For more than 40 years, DTW Architects has woven sustainable design principles into every project. The firm is committed to preserving the natural environment, maximizing energy efficiency, and achieving long-term sustainability goals—an approach recognized with four Environmental Awards. DTW is a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council and partnered with the City of Raleigh on its first LEED-certified project (Silver).
The client was especially interested in showcasing water-saving strategies to its constituents, and reuse water from the plant is used for toilet flushing and make-up water to the HVAC chiller. This project achieved LEED Silver certification from the USGBC, and was the first LEED certified building for the City of Raleigh.
For the first new middle school in the district in over twenty years, Durham Public Schools wanted a premier building that would inspire students and staff, meet LEED Gold certification, and incorporate a project-based educational design philosophy.
This 98,000 SF elementary school project includes parent and bus drop-off loops, vehicular circulation allowing car stacking, stormwater improvements, landscaping, athletic fields and building courtyards. This project has received USGBC LEED Gold certification.
In addition, DTW is a multi-time recipient of the Golden Leaf Environmental Award for the following projects:
