Randleigh Environmental Education Center
Location: Wake County, NC
Date: 2010
DTW Architects served as the architectural consultant for the Master Plan of the Randleigh Environmental Education Center. The plan was created with input from many public and private stakeholders over a one-year period. Located adjacent to the Neuse River, the Center’s purpose is to educate the public on all aspects of water in the environment, and is the key component in the overall proposed Randleigh development.
The project consists of a series of courtyards, each with a unique water element, flanked by exhibit space on one side, and meeting and education spaces on the other. The flow of water through these courtyards serves both as an educational feature and also leads the visiting public to an overlook on the Neuse River. The Randleigh Environmental Education Center is designed to incorporate many sustainable design features in order to achieve a Platinum LEED Certification.
