DTW Architects designed a complete renovation of an existing historic church campus into offices and technology research facility for the UNC Carolina Population Center. DTW designed the project in accordance with Historic Preservation Guidelines, and managed the local preservation approval process. Architecturally, the most significant change was the modification of the sloped sanctuary floor into use as office space. The balcony was also redesigned for office use with a new larger stair using wood salvaged from the original building. The project included the renovation of fellowship hall and classrooms for office and lab use, and the installation of new HVAC, plumbing and electrical.
