DTW Architects designed several additions and renovations for the retirement community Carol Woods. A large renovation and addition involved the dining room and its kitchen area: the project added both formal and informal dining areas, added new serving elements and meeting rooms, and improved acoustics.

At the same time, twelve additional garden cottages, a crafts building for woodworking and pottery, and an innovative Intergenerational Facility were constructed. The Intergenerational Facility is composed of two residential-type buildings that house up to twelve cognitively-impaired residents each and an adjacent childhood center with a courtyard between, which provides visual interaction between the older and younger generations. An earlier addition to the Social Hall building included a multi-purpose auditorium with adjacent art studios.
