DTW Architects designed an ambitious renovation of Durham County’s 50-year-old public stadium. By inserting a new press box building behind one of the grandstands and smaller support buildings a short distance away, DTW created an open and inviting public concourse that leads into the grandstand. This new press box and support buildings front the street, and provide a new, modern public image for the stadium. The existing stadium buildings were completely renovated, with upgrades to locker rooms and concession stands, and new accessible paths and seating. The project also includes a state-of-the-art turf sports field and 400-meter track, handicap-accessible parking and landscaping.
